Video rough cut (LAB)

A LAB-gated rough-pick surface for video: under Short video → Resources, import local clips into a library and browse a minute-paged second grid (~60 s, ~1 s per cell) to preview usable moments before fine edit. Portrait/landscape switches 5-row / 8-row layouts; import mov / mp4 / m4v. Hands off to Short video · Editor for CLIP in/out, grade, and export; the same sidebar entry is also documented as Short video · Resources. Story and Rehearsal are covered in Create & deliver.

With LAB visibility: Sidebar Short video → Resources (this page) → add or drop video → select a clip → change minutes → tap a cell to preview; open Short video · Editor when you need fine trim. Format conversion/export follow the shipping build.

Material slices

After selecting a clip, the main pane pages by minute with a ~60-second cell wall (~1 s per cell). Move prev/next minute or jump via minute chips; tap a cell for a one-second preview. Optional second-number labels. Portrait uses 5 rows; landscape uses 8 (by aspect ratio).

Formats and conversion

Add or drop videos into the library; import currently supports mov / mp4 / m4v. Other containers/codecs need format conversion before import (convert/export entry points follow the shipped Mac UI). Unreadable files show an import alert.

  • Import: Add videos… or drop onto the list.
  • Slices: select clip → minute bar → second grid → preview.
  • Formats: prefer mov / mp4 / m4v; convert first if needed.
